For a truly unique experience, visit the volunteer-run Coober Pedy Drive-in and catch a Hollywood blockbuster under the stars!
The Coober Pedy Drive-in was built in 1965 and has provided a safe and friendly space over the years for our community to regularly get-together. With the boom of TV in the 80's, the Coober Pedy Drive-in sadly lost its popularity, except for special screenings, like Crocodile Dundee in 1986!
The beloved Coober Pedy Drive-in was brought back to life in the late 90's and is still running to this day with the devotion of community volunteers and the support of both local patrons and tourists alike.
You'll have the best seat in the house in your own vehicle, while catching one of the latest releases or an all-time classic. Prices start from a very reasonable $20 for a car with up to 7 people (prices as at 2020), and food and drinks are available at the canteen. Please bring cash, as eftpos facilities are not available.
The drive-in usually runs every Saturday night until Mid-December, however the 2020 schedule has been affected and movies are running fortnightly. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for schedule updates and special events.
