Extraordinary Far North Queensland

Welcome to your guide to Far North Queensland

Top things to see and do:

  1. Great Barrier Reef - The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the word, streching over 2000km along the Queensland coast and Port Douglas is the best place to see it. Swim amongst beautiful corals, hundreds of colourful fish and if you’re lucky turtles, dolphins and whales. Port Douglas is the closest departure point to the reef and offers an unparalleled boat fleet of more than a dozen specialist Great Barrier Reef diving and snorkelling tours each day catering to any age or swimming ability. Tours can be booked from reception.
  2. Daintree Rainforest - The World Heritage Listed Daintree is the oldest living rainforest in the world. Located just 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours north of Port Douglas. Take the ferry across the Daintree river and self-drive to discover all the hidden secrets of the rainforest or jump on one of the many expert day tours.
  3. Mossman Gorge - A Must See! A beautiful crystal clear swimming hole, tree top walk and rainforest walking track, in the Daintree rainforest, just 20 minutes north or Port Douglas.
  4. Markets - The famous Port Douglas Sunday markets are located in Market Park at the end of Macrossan Street and run from 8am - 2pm. The Sunset Markest are held on Wednesdays at the Crystalbrook marina from 12pm to sunset. Mossman Saturday Markets, which primarily sell fresh produce, are located at the St Davids Church grounds under the beautiful raintrees.

Plus, take a day trip to the Atherton Tablelands and see the many waterfalls along the way, take the Kuranda Skyrail and/or Scenic Railway to the rainforest village of Kuranda, spend the day at the Cairns lagoon, or visit the historical Cooktown.
